AARP Arizona Appoints Volunteer Leader to Executive Council
Erickson has been a volunteer with AARP since 2009 in the areas of economic security and 50+ workforce issues. He has a long history of volunteering in the business and faith communities that began in 1990 in Kankakee, Illinois. Since then he has served on the boards of the United Way of Provo, Utah, and as a board member for the “Safe at Home” initiative in Utah. In 2006, he was awarded the Phoenix Elks Distinguished Citizen Award for his work with JCPenney, the Elks Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Phoenix YMCA in helping underprivileged children. He currently sits on the board of the New Life Center in Litchfield Park, a shelter for domestic violence.
Retired, his business experience spans 40 years in management with JCPenney where he served in a variety of areas that included marketing, sales promotion and public relations. He was also a store manager for five different JCPenney stores across the country and worked at the retailer’s corporate office in Dallas, Texas.
“I am honored to be appointed to this leadership role with AARP Arizona,” said Erickson. “It will be a pleasure for me to be part of this council of volunteers who are so unselfish with their time and energy in the pursuit of helping others.”
“We are delighted that Carl has agreed to serve on our Executive Council,” said David Mitchell, AARP Arizona State Director. “His extensive volunteer background and his experience in business and management will be a terrific asset to the council’s work in Arizona.”

AARP Arizona is pleased to announce the appointment of Carl Erickson of Litchfield Park to serve on its Executive Council.
