State Director Craig Eichelman announced that Sheila Holm has joined the AARP Missouri state office staff as Associate State Director for Outreach and will be based in St. Louis.

“We’re excited to welcome Sheila and for her to ramp up quickly,” Eichelman said. “Her primary focus will be to build AARP’s presence in St. Louis and to help implement our state plan with volunteers and partner organizations in eastern Missouri. She will be a great addition to our team.”

Sheila’s professional experience has been focused in nonprofit management. Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters in Prescott, AZ. She retired as a COO after a 25-year career with Girl Scout councils in Illinois and Wisconsin. Holm has extensive experience in developing and managing volunteer programs and extending agency-based partnerships. A longtime resident of the St. Louis region, Holm said she is excited about the opportunity to meet and work with AARP volunteers throughout Missouri. “My first focus in the St. Louis region is to meet area volunteers and learn about their great work being done on behalf of members and non-members alike,” Holm said. “Additionally, I will be identifying and establishing new partnerships that will enhance AARP Missouri’s efforts as we engage our members and the public through our service and advocacy efforts,” she said.

Holm earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO. She enjoys traveling, gardening, and volunteers at a local animal shelter.
