Where can you find three days worth of world-class entertainment, intriguing learning opportunities and unparalleled access to quality information?

And did I mention it’s also a foodie paradise and you can get free registration by volunteering?

It’s in New Orleans. Join us at this amazing once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and volunteer for Life@50+ in the Crescent City – AARP’s premiere national event that showcases the best of how people are redefining life after 50. The event will be held September 20 – 22 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. “We will need approximately 2,000 volunteers to help out with this event where nearly 20,000 people attend. It’s a wonderful experience. I worked last year in Los Angeles and met many new friends,” said Kathy Burch-Payne, Senior Operations Associate, AARP Louisiana. “Louisiana knows how to throw a good time.”

As a volunteer you will serve as an ambassador for AARP, the Gulf Coast, and Louisiana. Volunteer members, their families, and friends are going to be an important extension of the event team, making sure that people are comfortable at the New Orleans Convention Center.

Unfortunately Hurricane Katrina roared through the Gulf south just a few weeks before AARP was to launch Life@50+ in 2005. “We are thrilled to be back in the Big Easy. Award-winning chef and restaurateur Emeril Lagasse will kick things off with a bam. And you don’t want to miss Movies for Grown Ups,” said Jason Weinstein, National Events Director.

“We are expecting more than 20,000 members, their families and friends to come to New Orleans for the event and we are going to need some help! The event is successful only with the support of volunteers from the Gulf Coast, serving as ambassadors for AARP, and the city of New Orleans. Event volunteers are going to be an important extension of the team, making sure that presentations run smoothly, the exhibit hall is orderly, and that people are generally comfortable with the New Orleans Convention Center. I can’t thank you enough for helping make this a memorable experience for all of our event attendees,” said Weinstein.
