AARP Maine Calling for Volunteers to Serve in Key Role
AARP Maine - Calling for Volunteers to Serve in Key Role
This is an opportunity to play a key role in AARP’s efforts to foster positive change in Maine and to reach out to like-minded individuals and organizations.
AARP is right now embarking upon a two-year campaign, generated through our national office in Washington DC that is sweeping the nation. Our goal is to defend America’s two most crucial programs designed to protect the well-being of Americans as they age: Social Security and Medicare. Further, we are committed to raising awareness about important new health care benefits as they become available thanks to the Affordable Care Act passed in 2010. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to work on state-based issues.
As a volunteer, AARP will provide training as needed and can supply you with AARP educational materials for distribution in your community.
If you are looking for a way to get involved and to make a difference in the lives of older Mainers, this is a great opportunity and we would like to speak with you further.
We need people who are:
Proactive in their community
Dedicated to protecting Social Security and Medicare
Committed to creating positive change in Maine
Interested in engaging community leaders and organizations
Ready to raise awareness about programs and services of paramount importance to older Mainers
AARP is strictly nonpartisan and not-for-profit. AARP has 228,000 AARP members in Maine and 38 million nationwide. We were founded in 1958 by Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, one woman who was determined to make a difference in the lives of others. Her motto, “to serve, not to be served” is her legacy and AARP continues to champion that philosophy.
