AARP Foundation is donating approximately 15 million food collection bags across the country for distribution to households in the states most at risk for senior hunger, including Arkansas, where 784,000 bags will be donated. On May 12, letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations from their postal customers at the same time as they deliver the mail.
Donations should be left by a postal customer’s mailbox before their usual mail delivery time on May 12. Letter carriers will collect donations and deliver to local food banks and pantries.
AARP Arkansas is helping to raise awareness about Stamp Out Hunger through social media and other media and encourages Arkansans to help to make 2012 the most successful Stamp Out Hunger food drive yet!
Top food needs include canned meats/fish/poultry, peanut butter, cereal, soups, canned fruits and vegetables, protein drinks such as Ensure, 100 percent juices, and pasta/pasta sauces. Additionally, you can enter for a chance to !*

Almost one in five Arkansas households struggles to put enough food on the table and Arkansas is the fifth hungriest state for older adults. AARP and AARP Foundation are joining the U.S. Postal Service and National Association of Letter Carriers on Saturday, May 12, 2012, to help Stamp Out Hunger.See also:
