You told us giving back is important to you! In a recent AARP Survey of people 50 and older living in Sioux Falls, almost half of respondents (47%) said they volunteered in the 12 months prior to the survey. They do it to help people, make their community a better place, and be with people they enjoy. Here’s your chance to do all of those things and more!
Volunteer Sioux Falls is an annual, community-wide day of service that takes place the last Saturday in September each year. The Helpline Center leads this day of giving, and promotes Volunteer Sioux Falls as a way to strengthen the Sioux Falls community by engaging people in volunteerism for one day, inspiring them to service for a lifetime.
The majority of Volunteer Sioux Falls 2012 projects will take place Sept. 29. The weekdays leading up to Volunteer Sioux Falls will feature “Take Action” events for those who want to help, but who can’t participate on September 29.
Projects will be happening all over the Sioux Empire at churches, animal shelters, private homes, highways, schools, food pantries, hospitals and neighborhoods. From making heart pillows for breast cancer patients, to assembling treat bags for kids, the options are endless! So grab a friend, a neighbor or your grandkids and find a project you’re passionate about!
