Justin Sullivan/Getty Images The election season is under way. Political rallies, campaign signs, and lots of red, white and blue dot the street sides and fill the news. Arkansas voters are as engaged as ever, and AARP members are no exception.
Feel the spirit of patriotism Oct. 11-15 (tentatively), as you watch the candidate debates on the Arkansas Educational Television Network, sponsored by AARP Arkansas. Check your local educational television schedule to confirm debate dates and times.

Debates for U.S. Senate, Congressional Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4, and for the gubernatorial debate will be sponsored by AARP.

Visit the AARP Voter Education van when it comes to your area. Get literature on the election issues which most affect the 50+ population. AARP volunteers are also needed to represent AARP Arkansas at candidate events. For an updated van tour stop schedule and for details on candidate events in your area call 1-800-554-5379.

Check the page for the most up-to-date information on AARP’s election activities.

In September, the AARP voter guide will be made available on the AARP web site, showing the candidates’ stand on AARP’s priority issues in the election:
Long term financial security (Social Security, Saving and Working, Financial literacy)
Federal deficit
Medicare fraud
Medicare physician access

AARP Arkansas knows you want to be a well informed voter and we want you to consider these issues when you cast you vote on election day. AARP is nonpartisan, has not established a political action committee (PAC) and does not endorse or make contributions to either political campaigns or candidates..
