Survey Home This mail survey was conducted by AARP to explore AARP Nevada members' personal concerns and the issues they view as top legislative priorities for AARP Nevada to work on with the State, as well as volunteerism, work or career and retirement plans, health care needs and expenditures, and utility/energy costs and services. Of those surveyed... 81 percent are extremely or very concerned about affording the cost of health care. 76 percent say home and community-based services are extremely or very important to them. 69 percent are either extremely (43%) or very (23%) concerned about being able to afford needed prescription drugs. 52 percent say their energy rates are unreasonable and over 13 percent find it extremely or very difficult to pay their energy bill. 32 percent say they are extremely (21%) or very likely (11%) to work beyond retirement, but slightly more (36%) say that for them it's not at all likely. 28 percent say they currently volunteer for various organizations and groups. The top three issues members say AARP Nevada should work on are ensuring access to affordable prescription drugs (86%), ensuring the affordability of energy rates and services (82%), and helping residents age in place (76%). This mail survey of 804 AARP Nevada members was conducted by AARP from August through September 2006.
