Report Home This mail survey was conducted to explore and measure the opinions of AARP members in Wyoming about a variety of legislative issues and personal concerns. Among the respondents top concerns are affordable prescription drugs, the safety and security of pension and retirement benefits, and affordable health care. Specifically, of the 1,125 members surveyed, the survey found that: Many are aware of durable powers of attorney, living wills, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation directives, but fewer than half have completed the necessary forms.
Most have basic telephone service, but believe they pay too much for it.
Many working members say they will put off retirement and continue to work either full-time or with reduced hours.
Eight in ten support legislation that would allow grandparent caregivers not having legal custody of their grandchildren to enroll them in school while almost nine in ten support legislation to allow grandparent caregivers without legal custody to have access to their grandchildren's medical records. The findings have been divided into six topical segments which have been published individually, and may be accessed by clicking on the appropriate subject listed above. The survey was conducted from April through May 2004. Participants, proportionally stratified by three age segments (50 to 59, 60 to 74, and 75+), were randomly selected from AARP's membership database.
