AARP North Dakota - We Want You Advocacy
Do you have the personal cell phone number of a local legislator?
Do you periodically have the chance to “bend the ear” of a local legislator?
Do you read about actions of our state legislature and wonder how you can influence their decisions?
If so, we want you.

We are looking for a few good Legislative Buddies – someone who has a relationship with a legislator or an interest in building a relationship.
We are building a network of volunteers and AARP members in every legislative district in the state to be Legislative Buddies. We need interested individuals who can access a North Dakota legislator, who supports AARP’s positions on state issues, and is willing to make a specific ask of the legislator on behalf of AARP.
If you become a Legislative Buddy, you will receive ongoing training and support.
The next regular session of the North Dakota Legislature will be in early 2013. It’s expected that policymakers will consider several issues of importance to AARP members and the 50+ population in general. Some of those issues will likely include transit, support for senior services like home-based care, long-term care issues, senior housing issues, retirement issues, and guardianship.
However, before the legislature convenes, AARP North Dakota wants to build its legislative outreach and we need members like you.
Become a Legislative Buddy or learn more by contacting Josh Askvig at the AARP North Dakota office via email at or call 701-355-3642.
