AARP Joins Aging Partnership to Issue Legislative Report Advocacy
The report gives details on seven long-term care, home and community-based services, health and safety and grandparenting bills backed by the OAP that were signed into law by Governor Brad Henry. Those bills include closing a loop-hole in the state’s nurse-aide registry, refining the incentive reimbursement rate plan developed for nursing homes and adding a requirement that nursing homes immediately report suspected rape and criminal acts to local law enforcement officials.
A detailed record of how each member of the Oklahoma Legislature voted on these bills is included in the report along with a section that includes other legislation of interest.
Lawmakers were notified in advance which bills would be included in the report.
“The report highlights legislation that we as a partnership feel is critically important for older Oklahomans,” said AARP Oklahoma State President Marjorie Lyons.
