2002 Update A Survey of Adult Funstyles

(PDF) Since the initial survey of American adult funstyles during the summer of 2001, the country faced on September 11th its most traumatic and defining crisis in a generation. It has also experienced a deepening recession and waves of layoffs. A key objective of the follow-up telephone survey of 1,071 age 18+ individuals conducted for AARP by RoperASW from January 11 through January 14, 2002 was to determine what, if any, impact the new climate has had on the nation's perceptions of fun and passion. Findings from the follow-up are largely consistent with and reaffirm those from the 2001 survey. Although there have been some specific significant fluctuations in the data which are noted in this report, the relative order of Americans' priorities and activities with respect to fun is generally unchanged.
