The Art of Aging
Alice and Richard Matzin address the fear of aging through art
It’s inevitable. If you live long enough, wrinkles will form, body parts will sag, and your physique will begin to tell your story. Artist Alice Matzkin says, “Lines and wrinkles are stories of a person's years. Their face reveals their history.” She and her husband, Richard Matzkin, tell these stories through art. Whether they stretch nude sketches over canvases or shape clay to simulate the bonding of grandparent and child, the Matzkins use their creative talents to address their fears of aging. In doing so, they help us examine our own worries. The result, they hope, is to share the joy they find in the aging process.
