Master Swimmer Sue Walsh

Always Set New Goals

In 1980, swimmer Sue Walsh qualified for the U.S. Olympic team, and thought she had fulfilled one of her dreams. But the pride and sense of accomplishment were short-lived, since President Jimmy Carter decided that the United States would boycott the 1980 games to protest Soviet military actions in Afghanistan. She missed qualifying in 1984 by .01 of a second. Today, Walsh is back in the water and is reclaiming some of her glory at the U.S. Masters Swimming Championships. Independent producer Rachel McCarthy has the story.
