The cast of this sci-fi epic (Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce and Noomi Rapace) ranges in the mid-to-low 30s age-wise, but that matters not when the director is the great Ridley Scott (74), who 30 years ago launched the modern era of with his classic Blade Runner.


This time around, Scott’s tale presents a team of deep space explorers following a course outlined in a newly discovered, but ancient, star map. What they expect to find is nothing less than an explanation for human existence. Scott has always combined with complex themes in his films, and this one should be no exception.
