50 Isaiah Washington

AUG. 3: The former Grey's Anatomy star is taking a villainous turn as the 2002 D.C. sniper John Allen Muhammad in Blue Caprice, out next month. He almost turned down the beyond-bad-guy role, he told Entertainment Weekly: "I'll be honest, it scared the bejesus out of me."

50 John Stamos

AUG. 19: He's always had such great hair, hasn't he? First as bad boy Blackie on General Hospital, then as Jesse on Full House. Next month he starts his Yahoo Web series Losing It With John Stamos, where he'll chat with celebs about how and when they lost their virginity. (Stamos says he was 17.)

50 Tori Amos

AUG. 22: She's sold some 12 million albums, starting with 1992's Little Earthquakes. Some of her more recent work has been, well, kinda weird. A classically trained musician, Amos wrote the music and lyrics for the The Light Princess, opening in New York next month.

60 Robert Cray

AUG. 1: The blues guitarist has five Grammys, including one for 1986's Strong Persuader. Guitarist magazine named Cray's Nothin But Love Album of the Year for 2012, noting, "if you can stir something in people's hearts from the very first note you play, you're doing all right."

60 Hulk Hogan

AUG. 11: The wrestler became known as Hulk after someone noted that he was more muscular than Lou Ferrigno, star of The Incredible Hulk. His recent tabloid-ready incidents include starring in a sex tape and tweeting gross photos of a hand he'd badly burned. (Do not search for that one.)

60 Kathie Lee Gifford

AUG. 16: Famous for playing opposite Regis Philbin on Live With Regis and Kathie Lee, Gifford is now great pals with her Today show cohost Hoda Kotb. The two were featured in AARP The Magazine, where Gifford said about aging: "If you have a pulse, you have a purpose."

60 Robert Parish

AUG. 30: Basketball's 7-foot Hall of Famer, "The Chief" was a force in the 1980s, playing center with the Boston Celtics alongside Larry Bird. Now living in North Carolina, Parish recently told The Boston Globe, "I need a coaching job in the NBA. I'm restless and I need money."

60 Marcia Clark

AUG. 31: The prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson murder trial has called Simpson an "unregenerate, scum-sucking creep," and said she still feels guilty about his acquittal. Clark now writes thrillers — her latest, Killer Ambition, is about a prosecutor in the high-profile trial of a Hollywood power player.

70 Ronnie Spector

AUG. 10: The rock 'n' roll sensation with the big beehive, thick black eyeliner and famously horrid marriage (to producer Phil Spector), she led the Ronettes, whose massive 1960s hits included "Be My Baby" and "Walking in the Rain." She released a single, "I Do Love You," this year.

70 Robert De Niro

AUG. 17: "You talkin' to me?" Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas. The guy's one of the greatest movie actors ever. Lately he's turned to funnier stuff: He stars in a mobster comedy called The Family, out next month, and later in Last Vegas, about old buddies gathered for a bachelor party.

80 Julie Newmar

AUG. 16: She was Catwoman on the 1960s TV series Batman; her catsuit is enshrined at the Smithsonian; her legs were once insured for $10 million. When Anne Hathaway was cast as Catwoman for 2012's The Dark Knight Rises, Newmar declared, "She's going to be marvelous."

80 Roman Polanski

AUG. 18: He's revered for directing such classics as Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown and The Pianist, but he's also infamous for his 1977 conviction for raping a 13-year-old girl and then fleeing to France. In May, Polanski made more waves when he declared the equalizing of the sexes "idiotic."

80 Tom Skerritt

AUG. 25: Skerritt has had countless supporting roles (Alien, Top Gun, Ted), although he won a 1993 Emmy starring as Sheriff Brock on the quirky CBS show Picket Fences. He lives in Seattle, teaching storytelling and screenwriting, and is still often described as "ruggedly handsome."

90 Richard Attenborough

AUG. 29: The British thespian Lord Attenborough has won awards aplenty, including an Oscar and Golden Globe for directing Gandhi (1982). He suffered a stroke in 2008 and recently moved to an English caregiving home for actors, where he lives with his wife, actress Sheila Sim, who is 91.
