Morgan Freeman Nicole Kidman and others celebrate big ones this month

June 1 Morgan Freeman 80

He drove Miss Daisy. He played hooky as God in Bruce Almighty. And he supplied Batman with those wonderful crime-fighting toys. Freeman, an Oscar winner for 2005’s Million Dollar Baby, shows no signs of slowing down. His comedy caper Going in Style recently opened, and he teams with Tommy Lee Jones in the upcoming Villa Capri.

June 1 Ronnie Wood 70

The longtime guitarist for the Rolling Stones is celebrating more than just his 70th birthday. His twin daughters, Gracie Jane and Alice Rose, turned 1 the day before. The musician tweeted, "It's a joint celebration — Turning one & 70! Thank you all for your good wishes xx."

June 3 Anderson Cooper 50

Cool, calm and informed, this natty CNN anchor, the host of the cable network’s evening news show Anderson Cooper 360° since 2003, rarely gets rattled on air. His ability to handle the pressures of the spotlight might be found in his genes — his mom is fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt, known for the ubiquitous jeans that bore the back-pocket swan insignia in the 1970s.

June 4 Sally Kellerman 80

Loretta Swit might have spent 11 seasons and won two Emmys as nurse Major Margaret Houlihan on the hit CBS series M*A*S*H. But Kellerman was the original “Hot Lips” in the 1970 darkly comic movie directed by Robert Altman that focused on a medical unit during the Korean War. She earned an Oscar nomination for her breakout role, which memorably included a humiliating nude scene in a shower.

June 6 Robert Englund 70

Fright flicks were never quite the same once this actor assumed the persona of an iconic boogeyman: Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. In eight films from 1984 to 2003, Englund donned the scar-faced serial killer’s trademark fedora, green-and-red sweater and razor-equipped glove. Fun fact: After a Star Wars audition for Han Solo, he told pal Mark Hamill to try out for Luke Skywalker.

June 6 Paul Giamatti 50

Fans of 2004’s wine-country jaunt Sideways know better than to toast this master of irascible characters with a glass of merlot as he hits the half-century mark. An Oscar nominee for 2005’s Cinderella Man, he also played a nightmare boss in 1997’s Private Parts and our second POTUS in the 2008 miniseries John Adams. These days, Giamatti is a ruthless U.S. attorney on Showtime’s Billions.

June 8 Jerry Stiller 90

Manssiere. Festivus. “Serenity now!” He might be the real-life father of comic actor Ben, but this funnyman is best known for being George Costanza’s highly combustible dad, Frank, on TV’s Seinfeld. Stiller first found fame as part of a stand-up team with his late wife, Anne Meara. He put off retirement after Kevin James asked him to be his TV wife’s widowed father, Arthur, on the sitcom The King of Queens.

June 20 Nicole Kidman 50

After this stunning Hawaii-born and Australia-bred actress won an Oscar for portraying writer Virginia Woolf in 2002’s The Hours, her film career has had more downs than ups. But lately her luck has turned around, thanks to her fourth Academy Award nomination for 2016’s Lion, as well as her lauded role as an abused wife on the HBO miniseries Big Little Lies. Next up: She’s a Civil War-era headmistress at an all-girls school in The Beguiled.

June 23 Frances McDormand 60

An Academy Award winner for her Minnesota-nice police chief Marge Gunderson in 1997’s Fargo, McDormand married into the Coen brothers clan in 1984, as wife of Joel and sister-in-law to Ethan. Since then, she has been in eight of the directing team’s films. She’s also excelled beyond the Coen zone, earning Oscar nods for 1988’s Mississippi Burning, 2000’s Almost Famous and 2005’s North Country.

June 25 Jimmie Walker 70

“Dy-no-mite!” That explosive catchphrase will forever be linked to this stand-up comic turned actor who found fame as son J.J. Evans on Good Times, the groundbreaking sitcom that ran from 1974 to 1979. He has come to terms with his signature character, once noting, “There's so many people that dislike you all the time, so when somebody loves anything that you do, you go ‘Yes! Finally!’ Even if it means the dyn-o-mite thing.”
