The 2013 AARP Survey of Pennsylvania Residents Age 50 on Telecommunications

(Full Report, PDF) AARP’s Pennsylvania State Office, in response to its commitment to ensure reliable telecommunications service for all residents, commissioned this survey to explore the views of residents age 50+ on their telephone service. Key findings include: 94% of residents are satisfied with their landline telephone service and 80 percent are unlikely to cancel this service and use only a cell phone for all of their calling needs. Seventy-four percent strongly oppose allowing landline telephone service providers to stop service in rural parts of the state. About three in five oppose legislation that would take away the PUC’s authority to oversee the rates charged (58%) and the quality of services provided (61%) by landline telephone service providers in Pennsylvania.
