Evi Abeler/Offset We cannot tell a lie: Ice cream flavors, toppings and products have come a long way since the days of our Founding Fathers. July marks National Ice Cream Month, but is it officially a thing? Well, let us explain. It enjoys a reputation as the perfect dessert and snack food.” Citing the economic benefit of ice cream for the U.S. dairy industry, President Reagan then declared July 1984 as National Ice Cream Month and Sunday, July 15, 1984, as National Ice Cream Day. In the years that followed, no further proclamations were issued. But many Americans have continued to observe July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of July as National Ice Cream Day. — Receive access to exclusive information, benefits and discounts Historians believe America's dates back to our Founding Fathers. He later served the treat to guests at Mount Vernon. Over the years, makers of this sweet frozen dessert have tweaked their recipes, with some changing the texture and others trying to make it healthier.
