The Check is in the Mail—Look for Doughnut Hole Rebates Watch Out for Scams

Relief is on the way to thousands of Oklahomans who find themselves in the dreaded Medicare Part D “doughnut hole” coverage gap. As one of the first milestones of the newly implemented health care law, the first set of $250 rebate checks were mailed to eligible recipients on June 10th.

AARP Oklahoma joined forces with Oklahoma State Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland at a joint press conference that day to announce the rebates and to warn consumers of potentials scams.

Commissioner Holland and AARP State Director Nancy Coffer reminded the public that those eligible should never give their personal information, bank accounts or Social Security numbers to anyone who says they can help get the rebate checks faster. Those eligible will automatically receive the one-time rebate check once they reach the “doughnut hole.”
