Obama Faces Questions From Older Americans
President discusses concerns about new law $250 Medicare checks at Maryland senior center
President Barack Obama spent an hour discussing health care issues in a town hall meeting with older Americans at a senior center in Wheaton, Md., earlier today. The event began at 11:15 a.m. with opening remarks by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Obama answered questions from the town hall audience of about 100 older men and women, as well as callers from across the country. Nationwide, some 25 organizations arranged more than 100 public and private "viewing parties" of the event. According to the White House, the purpose of the event was to address the specific concerns and questions older Americans have about the new health care law.
