Report Home New York residents age 50-64 overwhelmingly agree that state policymakers should work to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to quality, affordable, and adequate health care coverage, according to an October 2007 telephone survey. 44% are extremely or very concerned about being able to maintain their current level of health care coverage. 25% find it extremely or very difficult to pay their out-of-pocket medical expenses. 37% are extremely or very concerned about affording prescription drugs over the next 2 years, and 24% are somewhat concerned. 67% would be more likely to vote for a candidate for public office if he or she supports giving all residents access to quality, affordable, and adequate health care coverage.
