AARP Offers Free Tax Help in Oklahoma
“The AARP Tax-Aide program is a wonderful resource for low and middle income taxpayers and especially for senior citizens,” said AARP Oklahoma State President Marjorie Lyons. “Tax-Aide Started in 1968 with just four volunteers. Now we have hundreds of volunteers in Oklahoma alone who provide this valuable service.”
AARP Tax-Aide tax counselor-volunteers receive comprehensive training in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, said AARP Oklahoma Tax Aide Coordinator Shirley Raymond.
Tax-Aide site locations will operate from February 1st to April 15th. To locate the nearest site, visit online or call toll-free 1-888-227-7669.
In 2009, AARP Tax-Aide prepared and filed federal and state income tax returns for over 37,000 Oklahomans at 45 locations around the state. 376 Tax-Aide volunteers worked in Oklahoma.
