AARP Tax-Aide volunteers receive free tax training and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses. Volunteers do not need to be an AARP member or retiree to participate.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities available – from Tax-Aide Counselors to Greeters, as well as Communications and Technology Coordinators. Whether you like working with numbers, interacting with people, have a knack for computers or technology or are good at managing others, there is a volunteer opportunity that is right for you.

Last year, more than 500 AARP Tax-Aide volunteers helped over 30,000 taxpayers at 93 sites across Connecticut. They join the more than 35,000 AARP Tax-Aide volunteers across the country, helping millions of taxpayers each year. The free service is available to taxpayers with low- and moderate-incomes and gives special attention to people age 60 and older.

“Over the years, Tax-Aide volunteers have assisted thousands of people in preparing and filing their tax returns,” said Daniel Arnold, statewide coordinator for Tax-Aide in Connecticut. “We could not do it without our more than 500 volunteers annually, who make an indelible mark on the communities they help.”
