Volunteers are needed as greeters, schedulers or to provide technical support to tax counselors in the field.
Tax-Aide is a volunteer driven program and an important way to give back to others. Volunteers are trained to file the standard federal and state tax forms. Their training is extensive and starts months before tax season. All volunteer counselors are required to pass a certification test administered by the IRS before they are allowed to process tax forms. When possible, a new Tax-Aide volunteer will work with a veteran preparer before working independently.
When you volunteer with Tax-Aide, it’s one way to make a real difference in your community and get the satisfaction of helping others. Today, about 34,600 trained volunteers have helped more than 2.6 million taxpayers file their taxes annually.
New volunteer training classes for the 2012 tax season are being scheduled beginning in September 2011.
