AARP MO - Money Smart Week Targets Personal Finance
A study commissioned by The National Foundation for Credit Counseling in March 2011 found that nearly three in four U.S. Adults express concern about their finances, primarily about insufficient savings for retirement or emergencies. Additionally, the report indicates that more than one in three adults say they are now saving less than last year. And in fact, one in three do not have any non-retirement savings.
AARP Missouri and have partnered to develop and offer a free workshop during targeted to adults 40 and older looking to learn how to manage their financial resources and plan for their financial future by:
Diminishing their debt
Creating a realistic budget
Maintaining a strong credit score
Using tools to identify needed resources for retirement
How to keep self and resources safe from fraud
The seminar, “On the Road to Retirement,” is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Tower Grove Manor facility, 2710 S. Grand in St. Louis. Money Smart Week Targets Personal Finance
Personal finance concerns are at the top of the list for most adults. In a recent AARP web poll asking respondents, “Which is the top priority on your list of financial dos and don’ts for 2012?”, of the 6300 respondents 41% indicated they want to make a decent dent in their personal debt this year.
