Manufacturers have been shaving ounces and inches from packaged goods, usually blaming rising costs, says Consumer Reports. Rather than upping prices and discouraging sales, they , hoping you won't notice. They downsize containers, cut the number of items inside or slice off edges, reducing contents by up to 20 percent. Consumer Reports suggests comparing brands, because not all have been downsized. If you're really fed up, complain to the company. You may get coupons for your next purchase.
