The 2013 AARP Survey of Pennsylvania Residents Age 50 on Electric Utilities

This and Related Reports

(Full Report, PDF) AARP’s Pennsylvania State Office, in response to its commitment to ensure reliable electricity service for all residents, commissioned this survey to explore the views of residents age 50+ on their electric service. Key findings include: 68 percent support continuing to require Pennsylvania electric companies to offer a “default electric plan” that is priced at the lowest reasonable price. Fifty-eight percent believe it is extremely or very important for Pennsylvania electric customers to have a “default electric plan” that is priced at the lowest reasonable rate to allow customers a baseline to compare to other electric plans offered by alternative electric suppliers while another one in five think it is somewhat important. These results are based on a telephone survey fielded August 29 to September 7, 2013 of 802 Pennsylvania residents age 50 and older. For more information, contact Joanne Binette at 202-434-6303.
