Some Major League Baseball teams offer discounts. The Florida Marlins provide Free Ticket Thursdays for those 55 and up. Compare that with the $50 average price of a seat in their ballpark.
Ride the Rails
If you are 62 or older, Amtrak offers 15 percent off. On a trip from New Orleans to Los Angeles, you could slice about $48 off the $320 one-way fare.
Music for All
Nothing says summer like free concerts. At Washington's John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Millennium Stage concerts, which often showcase jazz artists, are free. At regular Kennedy Center jazz performances, a ticket is typically $85.

Many stores, including Kohl's, have a discount day for those over 55. On Wednesdays get 15 percent off Kohl's purchases—buy $100 worth of merchandise and save $15.
