YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Interiors Research has found that painting your kitchen this colour could see you sell your home faster By You Magazine - May 17, 2021 Anybody trying to sell their home will know that it’s important to make sure the space looks as presentable as possible to entice potential buyers. And one factor that’s perhaps more important than we initially realised is the colour of our walls — our kitchen walls, to be exact – in helping to sell your home faster. Getty Images New research has shown that those with certain coloured kitchen paint may be more likely to be able to sell their homes with ease. And while you may be tempted to think that the simpler, the better (we’re talking cream or white), this isn’t necessarily the case. In fact, Magnet has found that colours often lead to an easier sell. The kitchen brand polled 2000 homeowners to ask about their colour choices, as well as which kitchen colours they perceive as most expensive. Surprisingly, it was not white or cream that came up trumps, but blue, with 41 per cent of the vote, closely followed by green with 27 per cent. It’s undeniable that gorgeous pale blue hues and mint or sage greens look divine on any wall, even in the kitchen where you might not expect to usually find them. Getty Images The study also found that one in three of respondents actually believe that having a white kitchen makes it looks lower in value. Speaking about the findings, Magnet’s Hayley Simmons said: ‘This insightful new research brings to light just how tentative British homeowners can be when it comes to incorporating colour in the home, yet the benefits of opting for richer, more vibrant tones far outweigh any risk.’ Getty Images Simmons continued: ‘We would highly encourage people to step out of their comfort zone and embrace colour in the kitchen, to not only increase the perceived value of their home but to improve its wellbeing value too. 1 in 3 people (36 per cent) admit that they love colour but are too nervous to use it, in case the shades clash, but this is where expert designers can help.’ We’ll see you in the paint aisle!
