Determined to take action, part-Burmese British Vogue contributing beauty editor Kathleen Baird-Murray has joined forces with PR, Jo Jones, the co-founder of hygiene poverty charity, Beauty Banks in an effort to raise funds for those affected by the devastation. Photographs: Instagram In collaboration with GoFundMe, Kathleen and Jo have launched MAY DAY FOR MYANMAR, a grassroots fundraising campaign that will see proceeds go to United World Schools, Prospect Burma and Medical Action Myanmar. We want to show people in Myanmar that the world cares; that their suffering is not being ignored. Jo and I believe that we are all of us heroes – whether we’re out there on the front line fighting for the freedoms we care passionately about or digging deep into our pockets to show others that their actions count for something. At a time when there is so much sadness in the world, it’s life-affirming to know there are many kind and generous people out there who have been moved by the plight of the Burmese people.’ The duo is bringing together luxury fashion, beauty and fine jewellery brands such as The Vampire’s Wife, Orlebar Brown, Aromatherapy Associates, Dr Barbara Sturm and Elemis in a bid to raise money that will be divided between three carefully selected charities. Jo explained, ‘Our aim is to create a ‘fundraising-campaign-with-benefits,’ offering people wonderful incentives to get involved and part with their hard-earned money.
