YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Life These are the bestselling books of summer 2021 according to Amazon By You Magazine - September 8, 2021 Much like in 2020, our summer has been a little different this year. Many of us have continued to stick to staycations and locations closer to home, rather than jetting off to far-flung, sun-drenched destinations, for example. But one thing that has remained consistent is our love of a good summer read; of which 2021 has seen many. In fact, Amazon UK has just released its list of the top ten bestselling books for the past few months and it features some of the year’s biggest hits. Somewhat unsurprisingly, in the top spot is Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library, which has been a favourite for fiction fans across the country. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, £4.50, Amazon Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens also features, which was another of 2021’s must-read novels and is now being made into an on-screen adaptation featuring Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-Jones. Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, £6, Amazon Also in the list are other recognisable titles, from The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell to Small Pleasures by Clare Chambers, both of which have been spotted on bookshelves around the nation. Small Pleasures was also longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction this year. The full list is as follows… Top ten bestselling books both print and eBooks from Amazon for summer 2021 The Midnight Library by Matt Haig The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell Choose Me by Tess Gerritsen and Gary Braver Last Night by Mhairi McFarlane Small Pleasures by Clare Chambers A Song for the Dark Times by Ian Rankin Her Last Breath by Hilary Davidson Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens That Night by Gillian McAllister The Serial Killer’s Wife by Alice Hunter Interestingly, Amazon has also shared which of the top ten book’s most popular quotes and passages have been highlighted or saved by readers. For example, for The Midnight Library, the most popular passage is as follows: ‘The lonely mind in the busy city yearns for connection because it thinks human-to-human connection is the point of everything. But amid pure nature (or the “tonic of wildness” as Thoreau called it) solitude took on a different character. It became in itself a kind of connection. A connection between herself and the world. And between her and herself.’ In Where The Crawdads Sing, it was: ‘His dad had told him many times that the definition of a real man is one who cries without shame, reads poetry with his heart, feels opera in his soul, and does what’s necessary to defend a woman.’ Small pleasures by Clare Chambers, £6.74, Amazon And for Small Pleasures: ‘She wondered how many years – if ever – it would be before the monster of awakened longing was subdued and she could return to placid acceptance of a limited life. The journey into love was so effortless and graceful; the journey out such a long and laboured climb.’ You can shop all of the top ten bestselling books of the summer on Amazon now.
