Well, according to an etiquette expert, it could all be down to your belongings. Getty Images Speaking to Indy 100, William Hanson, whose a professional when it comes to all things class, revealed the 16 items he considered to be the most middle class materialistic items. He even stated that anyone who owns just one of the selected posessions on his list should be considered middle class. From snazzy modern technology that our parents would never have heard of to designer handbags, the items on the list are indulgent to say the least. At the top of the list was the all important smart TV. This is owned by 42 per cent of middle class households, states Hanson. Getty Images It is closely followed by a Dyson vacuum cleaner, which is owned by 38 per cent of middle class households, a barbeque (and we don’t mean the one-time use ones you take the the park on a nice summer’s day) which is owned by 31 per cent of middle class households, vinyl records owned y 17 per cent and an iMac which is found in 12 per cent of middle class homes.
