YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Nigella Lawson just hit back at the idea that she needs airbrushing in the best way By You Magazine - December 17, 2018 Nigella Lawson is known as a ‘goddess’, and not just in domestic terms. But even she isn’t immune to criticism – as she proved in a recent tweet about being told she needs airbrushing on screen. Posting in response to a tweet by actress and presenter Jameela Jamil, who has vehemently spoken out against airbrushing on several occasions, Nigella revealed: ‘I’ve had to tell American tv stations not to airbrush my sticking out stomach. The hatred of fat, and assumption that we’d all be grateful to be airbrushed thinner is pernicious.’ Getty Images Fans were quick to send messages of support to Nigella after her statement, with one writing: ‘I cannot for the life of me fathom anyone ever wanting to airbrush Nigella! You are absolutely gorgeous!’ ‘British televison has real people on it. US television is fake. All the power to you #MsLawson You are the real deal,’ another tweeted, while a third follower wrote to the cookery star: ‘I’ve always thought you are absolutely gorgeous and loved how you celebrated your curves on your shows.’ I’ve had to tell American tv stations not to airbrush my sticking out stomach. The hatred of fat, and assumption that we’d all be grateful to be airbrushed thinner is pernicious. - Nigella Lawson (@Nigella_Lawson) December 15, 2018 Earlier this month, The Good Place star Jameela opened up about her own views on airbrushing, declaring that the practice was ‘a disgusting tool that has been weaponised’. Writing for the BBC 100 Women, she said: ‘I want it gone. I want it out of here.’ Getty Images ‘Don’t give your money to any institution that sells you the lie of “perfection”. They are trying to break you, so you will hate yourself and go out and buy something you don’t need, in order to fix something that was never broken in the first place.’ ‘I think it’s a disgusting tool that has been weaponised, predominantly against women, and is responsible for so many more problems than we realise because we are blinded by the media, our culture and our society.’ RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR 50 of the best celebrity Halloween costumes of all time Shirley Ballas ‘ Strictly gave me back my hope’ Davina McCall discusses how men can help women going through the menopause Popular in Celebrity TV chef Gino D Acampo on Sardinia Sophia Loren and scary salads May 25, 2017 The Evergreen Goddess Exercise guru Diana Moran on looking fit and July 10, 2017 More more Julianne Moore November 13, 2017 Author Jill Mansell on designer notebooks commissioning art and the family January 16, 2018 EMOTIONAL TIES Kelly Hoppen on vodka vintage finds and being a April 4, 2018 ‘ I have no regrets’ Millie Mackintosh on divorce debt and reuniting May 20, 2018 EMOTIONAL TIES TV presenter and tennis player Annabel Croft shares her July 1, 2018 Stella Parton ‘ Dolly and I have always been close’ August 12, 2018 Anna Friel on getting jeered in the street shared parenting with September 23, 2018 Queen of primetime Charlotte Riley on juggling rising stardom with pregnancy October 21, 2018 Popular CategoriesFood2704Life2496Fashion2240Beauty1738Celebrity1261Interiors684 Sign up for YOUMail Thanks for subscribing Please check your email to confirm (If you don't see the email, check the spam box) Fashion Beauty Celebrity Life Food Privacy & Cookies T&C Copyright 2022 - YOU Magazine.
