Last year, The Duke of Cambridge discussed his late mother and his children’s relationship to her in HBO’s Diana: Her Life and Legacy. And it sounds as though he and wife Kate like to keep Diana alive around their home as much as possible by talking about her and keeping pictures of her around: ‘We’ve got more photos up round the house now of her and we talk about her a bit and stuff,’ explained William. He also said that they are always ‘constantly talking about Granny Diana.’ ‘I do [when] regularly putting George or Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just try and remind them that there are two grandmothers, there were two grandmothers in their lives, and so it’s important that they know who she was and that she existed.’ Getty Images William also went into detail about what kind of grandparent he thought Diana would be, to which he comically responded: ‘She’d be a nightmare grandmother, absolute nightmare! She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare.’ He continued: ‘She’d come and go and she’d come in probably at bath time, cause an amazing amount of scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place and—and then leave.’ Princess Diana tragically died in a traffic collision in 1997 when William was just 15 years old. For this reason of course, The Duchess of Cambridge was sadly never able to meet her mother-in-law. The Duchess has paid tribute to Diana a number of times however, largely through her choice of clothing – especially her tiaras. The Duke and Duchess’ of Cambridge’s daughter Charlotte is also named after Diana, as her full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
