There was also a bizarre mini-challenge and it's all kicking off as certain girls start to pull ahead in the race. Who Is The Shadiest Of Them All Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BBC / Via bbc.co.uk We saw certain queens start to throw beaucoup shade in the workroom this week, including last week’s surviving contestant Blu Hydrangea and fan-favourite Crystal. Sam: Vinegar's overconfidence is a little ridiculous at this point and I'm kind of glad she got called out by Crystal. The Vivienne continues to be bolshy and to-the-point – don't get me wrong, I like a queen who's real, but I don't like one who is rude for no reason! Jeff: I didn’t see Crystal’s comments to Vinegar as shade at all – Vinegar asked for her opinion! Blu, on the other hand, would not shut up about Divina’s age, which got real old, real fast. But the shadiest queen of this episode was Michelle! The claws are out between her and Graham! Josie: Blu Hydrangea is lowkey shady AF. Does she mean it or is she just a bit clueless with her words?! Who knows! Battle Of The Aesthetics Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BBC / Via bbc.co.uk This week there was much discussion about the queens’ personal aesthetics, from Crystal’s body hair to Vinegar’s “hodgepodge couture”. Sam: I felt really bad when the queens read Sum Ting Wong for her outfit because I thought it was chic AF. RuPaul calling Vinegar's style "hodgepodge" was priceless. Vinegar took it in good spirits but it's also super true. Jeff: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I Am Here For Crystal’s Body Hair! I especially love her reasoning for it: "I just want to fuck with people". Same tbh. Josie: I am with Jeff here, I love Crystal’s body hair aesthetic and the reasoning behind it was great as well. Subvert those expectations, baby! This Is RuPaul s Best Friend Race BBC / Via bbc.co.uk It was super nice to see Thelma and Louise wannabes Baga and The Vivienne and underdog sweethearts Vinegar and Sum Ting Wong budding up this week! Sam: I love a good friendship on Drag Race. Baga and The Vivienne are those lowkey bitchy friends who suck as people but you can't help but adore them! Jeff: Sum Ting Wong saying she needs Vinegar in the competition made my heart feel things: then for her to start crying!!! Although I knew they'd both be in the bottom after they showed that hug. Mini-Challenge Maypole dancing Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BBC / Via bbc.co.uk The girls were tasked with dancing around a maypole – or "gaypole" – a large wooden pole (stop it) which Western Europeans would traditionally tie ribbons to and dance around in unison at spiritual festivals. Each queen was then stopped and given a chance to dance individually, with RuPaul deeming the greatest dancer Cheryl Hole. Sam: Imagine Midsommar with much lower stakes and directed by John Waters. I do like that America gets a genuinely authentic representation of what us Brits like to spend our time doing though. Jeff: Cheryl finally got her chance to show off her dancing skills! It's clear she’s the only one who can actually dance out of the whole group. Also, honourable mention to The Vivienne’s surprise reveal. Josie: Blu Hydrangea’s terrifying look needs a special mention, but it was definitely Crystal who stole the show for me – she leapt at the poll and I LOVED that they had to blur some slippage. Maxi-Challenge Car Boot Couture Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BBC / Via bbc.co.uk The main challenge was for the girls to create high-fashion looks from a bunch of second-hand "rubbish" delivered to them in the guise of the Great British vestige that is the "car boot sale" – basically a big jumble sale in a field where people sell their possessions out of their car boot. Sam: YAS! It was great to finally see some costume-making going on in the workroom, although it went on for a while! I did not appreciate The Vivienne trying to psych out Sum Ting, but in the case of poor Vinegar, she needed a reality check from Ru and the girls. Jeff: The Vivienne just exudes confidence; you could tell by her design and when she was talking to Ru that she knows what she’s doing. Things were not looking good for Sum Ting and Vinegar, they really didn't know what they were doing design wise. Josie: This challenge gave me huge Project Runway vibes! Like Sam said, it was loooong – I just wanted to see the looks and fast track to the runway. And while Blu might've been a little shady, I did enjoy her chat with Divina about how the drag scene has changed in the last 15 years. The Runway Ru-purposed High Fashion BBC / Via bbc.co.uk The queens presented their final crafted looks on the runway and Ru got cutting with some of the girls about their ability to sew. Crystal, The Vivienne, and Divina De Campo were in the top, while Sum Ting Wong, Vinegar Strokes, and Cheryl Hole were in the bottom. Divina De Campo was crowned winner of this week. Sam: I have to say, this is where it seems like the powers that be have chosen their favourites and will shower them with praise regardless of the challenge. Baga's outfit was the worst and she was safe. No shade but WHY? The Vivienne looked like the fucking Babadook. Jeff: I thought Divina’s outfit looked like an actual couture look you’d see in fashion week – I’m not surprised she won this week! Crystal’s was also super impressive. I just hope she’s not too hard on herself for not winning! Josie: I felt bad for Vinegar Strokes but that newspaper look did not fit the brief. My favourite was definitely Crystal! I loved how avant-garde her look was – it honestly looked like she had had 10 times the amount of time that everyone else did. I’m okay with Divina's Celine-esque plaid plastic bag outfit winning though. The Lip Sync Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BBC / Via bbc.co.uk Vinegar Strokes was put up for elimination for the second time and was joined in the lip sync by her BFF Sum Ting Wong, who ultimately sent Vinegar home. Sam: I was rooting for Sum Ting, so I'm glad she stayed. I love the Eurythmics, but "Would I Lie to You?" was an odd song choice. Jeff: I actually thought this lip sync started out okay, but why do queens always feel like they need to rip their outfits apart? Sum Ting had the better actual lip syncing; Vinegar was trying anything to keep the judges attention. I know this isn't the predictions section, but I’m nervous for any queen who goes up against Cheryl – it's clear she’s the only one who can dance! Josie: Honestly, I was expecting more from the lip sync – it was a hot mess. But I’m glad Vinegar Strokes went because I lowkey loved Sum Ting Wong’s look. Predictions For Next Week Snatch Game ?Russell @RussellHayward My dream drag race UK snatch game lineup 07:25 PM - 05 Dec 2018 Reply Retweet Favorite Via Twitter Next week is Snatch Game! A little secret for you – apparently it's the best Snatch Game episode in a LONG time. Sam: I cannot wait to see which esoteric UK icons are brought out of the woodwork for this challenge. It's going to be so fun to see the crazy pastiche of off-the-wall British characters and I hope the US audience loves it too! Jeff: Yesssssss Snatch Game! From what I’ve seen, British queens have huge personalities, so I’m expecting a lot from this! I’d love to see The Vivienne do Kim Woodburn after her impression in episode one. I’m really expecting Baga to bring it also. I’m nervous for Cheryl though – I don’t know if she’ll be able to think on her feet quickly enough. I’m sensing Blu and Cheryl will be in the bottom two, with Cheryl out-dancing Blu to live another day. Josie: Jeff and Sam have instructed me that Snatch Game is the best challenge of the lot, so I’m excited to see what all the fuss is about. The Vivienne has so much confidence – I reckon she will smash this one out of the park!
