I was walking along Garuso-gil [a street in Gangnam] not long after I debuted, when a fan recognised me for the first time. Maybe? I don't know. But I always try to greet fans like it's the first time, even with the fans I've met before. Q First thing you do when you wake up Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BuzzFeed H: First, I check the time. Second, I check Instagram and third, check Snapchat. They're all things on my phone. To be honest, I can't get up right away. I check my phone, get up...I wash up and then I get up. That's it. Also, I tend to have dreams pretty often, so I often brag to my friends and family about what I dreamed about. It's not that interesting. [laughs] Q First Holland song you d recommend to new fans H: The truth is, many people remember me for "Neverland". They remember me as the Holland who's full of youth and sings about hope. Although I might have changed a little, at my core I'm still the Holland who talks about hope and love. So the song I want to recommend is "Neverland". Other than that it's a matter of taste, but I trust that you'll like all of them. It's OK if you don't like them. I'll just write better songs. [laughs] Q First time you got starstruck Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BuzzFeed H: Who's the first celebrity I've seen? I think it was the K-pop group SHINee, back when I was in middle school. After that, I followed SHINee wherever they went. I hopped from Music Bank to Music Core to Inkigayo like a typical middle school fan. [laughs] I was strongly influenced by SHINee then, and I still like them now. I don't think my taste changed. And the first pop star I saw was...Justin Bieber? I went to see Justin Bieber when he came to Korea, and I loved it. Q First job H: Do part-time jobs count? The first job I got after becoming an adult in order to make money to create "Neverland" and the "Neverland" music video was working part-time at a café. I worked pretty steadily at cafés. Even if I do say so myself, I was pretty popular with the customers, so even though I couldn't make coffee very well, I was always stationed at the counter. Q First concert you ever attended Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BuzzFeed H: Oh, but this is also SHINee! It's funny, because if you take a look at the culture of K-pop idols, there's the first concert, and then... For example, they have concerts over the span of three days. So there's the first concert, and the second day's show is called the "middle concert", and since the third concert is the last one, it's called the "final concert". And I think I went to all three concerts. I went to all of them. I wasn't standing or anything. I watched them from all the way at the back, but I still had a good time. To be honest... It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say I paid for one of the windows at SHINee's agency. [laughs] Q First famous friend H: I still can't believe this, but I happened to coincidentally meet an extremely famous and legendary Korean diva, Uhm Jung-hwa, and she always likes and comments on my Instagram posts. It still feels really crazy to me every time I see that. Q First time you knew you wanted to make music Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF BuzzFeed H: The truth is...It's SHINee again. Everything is SHINee! Looking back on it, I feel like I always dreamt of becoming a K-pop star as I watched SHINee. The major K-pop idols of my generation were SHINee, Big Bang, and NCT, who are still active to this day. Ever since I started liking G-Dragon and SHINee, I dreamt of becoming a K-pop idol. I entered college as a photography major, but only after entering college did I start thinking about what I really wanted to do. I thought about pursuing photography later and going after my real dream ... So I worked hard to make money, studied, and although it wasn't my major, I snuck into lectures to study entertainment. With that knowledge, I debuted and became Holland!
