We know what you’re thinking, we’ve still got a fairly long wait before we can pack our winter coats away and brush the dust off our bikinis. But there’s nothing quite as exciting as a bit of early holiday planning. Especially when the weather is cold, dark and miserable. Getty Images Luckily, we’ve got just the thing to inspire your summer holiday for 2019 as the two most popular European destinations to visit next year have been revealed. According to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), the only two countries worth exploring in 2019 are Bulgaria and Greece. The travel agents recently released trends for 2019 report has predicted that the two locations, known for their sunny beaches and gorgeous views, are on track to perform particularly well following an increase in bookings for summer 2019 up 30% and 6%, respectively. As stated in the report, their rise in popularity is believed to be due to ‘stretched household budgets and the continued weak pound’ as both Bulgaria and Greece offer great value for money. Getty Images ABTA also highlighted that Brexit doesn’t seem to have affected our choice in holidays just yet, with Mark Tanzer, ABTA Chief Executive, explaining: ‘With four months to go until we leave the EU, Brexit is getting closer yet the political process is still ongoing.’Despite the uncertainty, early indications show people are still booking holidays, reflecting people’s strong commitment and desire to travel.’ As a whole, Europe came out on top as the most popular destination to visit in 2019. According to the report, 61% of holidaymakers are planning a trip to the continent int he next 12 month. This means we won’t have to travel far to get the best (and most trendy) deals this year. So if you do have your holiday planning hat on, make sure you find out how to maximise your annual leave to get 55 days off in 2019 to make the most of it.
