So you can only imagine how we felt when we heard the recent news that Meghan Markle could be carrying twins. Rex Features While we haven’t heard much about Harry and Meghan’s impending parenthood from the horse’s (Kensington Palace’s) mouth, rumours have been circulating that the couple are expecting not one but two little bundles of joy in spring 2019. According to MailOnline, Irish betting website Paddy Power received so many bets that Meghan is in fact pregnant with twins on Friday that they have stopped allowing anymore to be placed. The rise of the bet placement has resulted in speculation that a source with inside knowledge of the royal couple and Meghan’s pregnancy was the first to place money on the couple having twins. ‘We had to suspend betting,’ a spokesperson for Paddy Power said. ‘We saw an almost identical pattern of betting before the announcements of the couple’s engagement and pregnancy. Since the day began, the stream of bets has led us to believe that perhaps the punters – or an insider source – knows something more than we do.’ So, could it be true? Rex Features The Duke or Duchess of Sussex have yet to deny or confirm the rumours, but many royal watchers have their fingers firmly crossed that it is – especially since the last time twins were born into the royal family in October 1430, when Joan Beaufort, Queen of Scotland, gave birth to twin boys Alexander and James. Last week during a trip to Australia, Prince Charles, who will soon become grandfather for the fourth time, suggested his own idea for the new royal baby (or babies) name. Speaking to MailOnline the future king said: ‘Incidentally, ladies and gentlemen, my son Harry tells me that during their recent tour of Australia, he and his wife were offered countless thoughtful suggestions for the naming of their forthcoming baby. Just between us, I suspect that Kylie and Shane may possibly make the shortlist.’ Well, it looks like they could be needing both names.
