From Aldi’s boozy Christmas food selection to Sainsbury’s personalised Quality Street tins, we’ve been spoilt for choice. And now, it looks like Morrisons is the place to go for your festive fizz. Getty Images The brand’s own Spumante Prosecco has just been voted one of the best supermarket sparkling wine under £15 in the 2018 Good Housekeeping taste test. The prosecco, which only costs £7 per bottle, scored an impressive 81/100 in the annual trial. What’s more? The judges described the Morrisons Prosecco as ‘a fruity, ripe peach and pear filled aroma with juicy peach and slightly confected pear flavours. Large lively bubbles that dissipate quickly and an easy drinking fresh finish.’ Yum. The judges sampled 48 sparking wines from around the world before picking their favourite which turned out to be the Laborie Méthode Cap Classique Blanc de Blancs Brut 2010, available on Amazon. The wine scored one point more than the Morrison Prosecco but is also double the price at £14.95. But, it does also sound very delicious with ‘hints of lime which are accompanied by aromas of toasted bread and hazelnut’ according to its description. Spumante Prosecco, £7, Morrisons Last month, Sainsbury’s own gin was similarly crowned the best supermarket bottle. Taste the Difference Blackfriars Gin was selected by an expert panel at Which? Magazine beating 10 other premium supermarket own-label and big brand gins priced at under £20 to the title. Commenting on the popularity of gin within the UK, Harry Rose, editor of Which? said:’With sales of gin rocketing and shoppers facing more choice than ever, it’s good news for gin-lovers that our expert test has found some excellent high street contenders that don’t cost a fortune,’ ‘Well-known brands are being challenged by a range of impressive supermarket offerings, showing how strong the demand for gin is now.’ RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Kids can eat for free at these restaurants during October half-term How to make the viral negroni sbagliato with prosecco at home 7 Halloween recipes with serious hex factor Popular in Food Gabriela Peacock 14-day plan Anytime baked eggs May 23, 2021 Joe Wicks’ maple-glazed chicken thighs with Asian slaw June 6, 2021 Mary Berry is returning to TV screens for a brand new June 15, 2021 Eleanor Maidment My summer taste notes July 4, 2021 Uyen Luu’ s sticky mustard marmalade ribs July 25, 2021 Annie Bell’ s white peach bellinis recipe August 8, 2021 M& S has launched a new crunchy Caramilk-inspired golden chocolate spread August 24, 2021 Deliciously preserved pickle and jam recipes September 19, 2021 Gordon Ramsay’ s bang bang cauliflower October 3, 2021 Wow right now Clodagh McKenna’ s speedy family dinners October 24, 2021 Popular CategoriesFood2704Life2496Fashion2240Beauty1738Celebrity1261Interiors684 Sign up for YOUMail Thanks for subscribing Please check your email to confirm (If you don't see the email, check the spam box) Fashion Beauty Celebrity Life Food Privacy & Cookies T&C Copyright 2022 - YOU Magazine.
