YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food These are the foods that British expats miss the most By You Magazine - November 8, 2018 Everyone likes their home comforts when it comes to food – even the rich and famous. Nigella Lawson says that she carries a tube of English mustard in her handbag, and Jennifer Saunders has admitted to taking her own teabags on holiday. But what about when you’re leaving the country for longer than a week or two? New figures released by British Corner Shop, an online store which ships iconic food and drink from the UK around the globe, have shown that there are some products that expats simply can’t live without, including Heinz baked beans, Warburton’s crumpets, Robinson’s squash and Jaffa Cakes. Alamy Stock Photo In the ranking of products sold to regions including the US, Spain and Australia, Cadbury’s chocolate bars, Walkers Frazzles and McVities Ginger Nuts also made appearances, as did key components for a classic roast dinner: Bisto gravy granules, and Paxo stuffing. ‘Though regardless of the exciting new life you find in a new country, it can be hard to let go of those familiar home comfort which may not grace the shelve of your new local supermarket,’ a spokesperson for the company said of the findings. ‘Weirdly, many of our expats have baby milk on their minds, as well as the odd Brit-centric snacks and treats we seem to have a taste for here, like Frazzles, Jaffa Cakes and a good buttery crumpet.’ ‘It gives an interesting insight into the diet of the typical Brit, who when taken out of their natural habitat still craves Heinz baked beans, Robinsons squash and McVities gingernuts.’ Here’s the full breakdown of the most purchased ‘tastes of home’: Most popular expat products in the US Getty Images 1.
