Rex Features The soon-to-be father took some time out to have a touching conversation with a six-year-old boy named Otia Nante, who’s mother took her own life when he was aged just one-years-old. While visiting Auckland Viaduct Harbour with wife, Meghan Markle, on Tuesday, the Australian Daily Telegraph reported that the Duke of Sussex reassured Otia, saying: ‘Life will always be alright, you know that, yeah?’ Reflecting on the loss of his own mother, Princess Diana, Harry added: ‘I made it to 34 years old and life is great. I’ve got a beautiful wife, a baby on the way. Life is going to be sorted, don’t you worry.’ Getty Images During their conversation, Otia’s grandmother, a 52-year-old woman named Te, told the royal that she had raised him ever since the passing of his mother. And according to bystanders, this led Harry to praise the woman while likely thinking of the role his own grandmother, the Queen, has played in his life. ‘You’re doing a great job, Nan,’ he reportedly said. ‘Nans are so important in our lives.’ Harry has previously been very open about the impact the death of his mother, who he lost at the age of just 12-years-old, has had on his life. However, in a very candid interview with journalist Bryony Gordon last year, the Duke expressed just how much it has affected both his work life and his personal life. ‘I can safely say that losing my mom at the age of 12 and therefore shutting down all of my emotions for the last 20 years has had a quite serious effect on not only my personal life but also my work as well,’ he said.
