YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food Snickers and Mars bars are about to become much healthier By You Magazine - October 2, 2018 Last week, it was revealed that eating chocolate during the winter is actually good for you – and now, to make the (admittedly already quite enjoyable) task of eating it even better, Mars has announced the launch of a new, healthier version of their classic Mars and Snickers chocolate bars. Getty Images Now, some of you may think that the words ‘healthy’ and ‘chocolate’ don’t belong in the same sentence. You may even be worried that Mars are planning to fiddle with the recipe for your favourite chocolate bars – but hear us out. From January 2019, the global confectionery company will be creating new versions of the Mars and Snickers bars with less sugar and more protein, in an attempt to help address high obesity rates without compromising their popular tastes. Getty Images Both bars are going to contain 10g of protein and up to 40% less sugar, with Mars ‘More Protein’ containing 17.5g sugar per bar (which is 40% less than what it contains now) and Snickers ‘More Protein’ containing 14.1g per bar, a 30% reduction. But rest assured, the company promises that the original taste will remain the same. The news is the first step taken by the company to create healthier alternatives to their famous chocolate bars. Next year, they’re set to launch a new lower calorie range including healthier Twix, Milky Way Crispy Rolls and Ripples, with each bar containing less than 100 calories. Getty Images Mars’ UK boss, David Manzini, is the man behind the move. Speaking to The Grocer, he said: ‘There is an appetite for novelty, for innovation, new tastes and products, which is higher than in the past. ‘ ‘I do believe we have a role and responsibility to play, which is why we’re bringing out this proposition and why we’re going to continue working. It is a challenge the Government and the country are facing and we need to support it. It is not a business opportunity but a business responsibility.’ RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Kids can eat for free at these restaurants during October half-term How to make the viral negroni sbagliato with prosecco at home 7 Halloween recipes with serious hex factor Popular in Food Gabriela Peacock 14-day plan Anytime baked eggs May 23, 2021 Joe Wicks’ maple-glazed chicken thighs with Asian slaw June 6, 2021 Mary Berry is returning to TV screens for a brand new June 15, 2021 Eleanor Maidment My summer taste notes July 4, 2021 Uyen Luu’ s sticky mustard marmalade ribs July 25, 2021 Annie Bell’ s white peach bellinis recipe August 8, 2021 M& S has launched a new crunchy Caramilk-inspired golden chocolate spread August 24, 2021 Deliciously preserved pickle and jam recipes September 19, 2021 Gordon Ramsay’ s bang bang cauliflower October 3, 2021 Wow right now Clodagh McKenna’ s speedy family dinners October 24, 2021 Popular CategoriesFood2704Life2496Fashion2240Beauty1738Celebrity1261Interiors684 Sign up for YOUMail Thanks for subscribing Please check your email to confirm (If you don't see the email, check the spam box) Fashion Beauty Celebrity Life Food Privacy & Cookies T&C Copyright 2022 - YOU Magazine.
