No matter your age, that starting-term-again feeling catches each September as the leaves turn golden, the air crisps and the rush of summer turns into a distant memory. Little wonder then, that Pinterest have named this as the month that is the perfect time to rehaul your home for a new beginning if you’re thinking about it. According to the new survey, conducted by the moodboard site, which looked at the seasonal habits of the UK, over half of Brits (55 per cent) feel September has become synonymous with a feeling of ‘back to life’ and 38 per cent feel its the time of year they most want to redecorate their homes. Getty Images This isn’t wholly surprising though seeing as many people’s routine of normal life changes during the summer. They might spend weeks away whether its abroad or in the UK, their kids may be out of school and they’re likely to have been in a more flexible mindset what with the longer days and balmy evenings. Getting ‘back to life’ really is a thing when the weather turns. As part of the study, respondents were asked what exact changes they would like to make to their homes. It was found that women (51 per cent) were more likely than men (35 per cent) to say that decluttering would be at the top of their priority list. MORE: The best homeware stores on the high street 30 per cent expressed a desire to paint at least one room in the home a new colour and 22 per cent wanted to give the house some DIY. 16 per cent of people also revealed they wanted to buy new things for their space – something I’m sure we can all relate too.
