YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Renee Zellweger is starring in this new Netflix original thriller By You Magazine - August 30, 2018 Netflix has been pulling out all the stops for its original content this year – so much so that some of Hollywood’s finest have been abandoning the big screen to star in their very own Netflix hits. From Will Smith and Jason Bateman, to Natalie Portman and Blake Lively; the streaming service has recruited some of the biggest names in the business, be it for one off films or running TV shows. And now, you can add Renee Zellweger to that list. Getty Images Bridget Jones fans rejoice – the 49-year-old star is set to feature in an upcoming Netflix series called What/If, her first major TV role to date. While the streaming service has been very tight-lipped about what we can expect, we do know that the series has been described as an anthology thriller. Netflix has revealed that the series will explore ‘the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things.’ We know, it’s all very cryptic. However, they also added: ‘Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.’ Getty Images The show’s synopsis goes on to explain that the first season of What/If will will follow ‘cash-strapped newlyweds’ as they ‘weigh a lucrative but ethically dicey offer from a powerful woman in this series.’ Is it just us or does this sound like a mix between Black Mirror and The OA (another hit Netflix drama)? We’ll have to wait for the trailer to confirm that, though. Zellweger will play Anne, the main character of the show. According to Radio Times, Robert Zemeckis, the Oscar-wining director behind the likes of Forrest Gump and Back to the Future, will be an executive producer on the series alongside Charles Roven, the producer behind The Dark Knight and Wonder Woman. No other casting details have been revealed as of yet.
