Getty Images In a job like mine, your loyalty is often put to the test. I have my long-standing favourites but an almost unending cascade of new launches will hope to divert me from even my most trusted beauty allies – and potentially encourage you to do the same. Of course, sometimes it’s in our best interest to change allegiance: technological advances improve formulations and finishes, packaging can add practicality and, in the case of my new brow favourite, it can be a bit of both. Bid hello to Kevyn Aucoin True Feather Brow Marker Gel Duo (£22, spacenk.com). Now, this is an eyebrow enhancer I am truly on board with. I should say that my preferred brow style is natural. I have no interest in the high-definition trend, which, to me, looks as though two slugs have fallen into curved death throes on the forehead. I like my brows to be filled in, defined, groomed but as if no one but Mother Nature has been involved. This product does that. It comes as a dual-ended tube with a felt-tip-style brush at one end that you can use to draw in the brows with very fine strokes, as if you’re creating individual hairs. I realise there are other products like this, but I’ve found they either deliver too much colour, which you then have to fix, or the lines are too fine, too thick and look obvious. This is my Goldilocks moment: it’s just right. It comes in four shades – Ash Blonde is great for my fair hair. At the other end of the tube is a clear fixing gel and ‘spoolie’ applicator (think mascara-like wand), which delivers a perfect finish and holds things in place. I still love my L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Plump & Set, a tinted gel which, at just £7.99 (from boots.com), is great value. But sometimes it does deliver just a bit too much product that I have to fix. Thus far, Kevyn’s version has been perfect every time. @edwinaingschambers Make-up’ s new dynamic duo I’m very impressed with the collaboration between Elf and Jen Atkin. Jen is a top hairstylist and founder of Ouai. My best picks are the Let’s E.L.Fing Do This face palette (£14): think well-pigmented eyeshadows, bronzer, blush and highlighter that stay in place, and the cream-to-powder kohl Zero Effort Liner (£5, boots.com) is also great and glides on easily. All come in sleek white packaging. Just the medicine for nurses Hairdresser Luke Hersheson, together with his father Daniel (founder of their Central London salon Hershesons), has formed the NHS Hair for Heroes campaign to give nurses a free haircut and blowdry to show the industry’s thanks for all they’ve done in the past year – and continue to do. Leading the way with Hershesons, Luke is asking salons nationwide to donate an hour per week of each of their stylists’ time to carry out the appointments. They hope to have thousands of salons signing up for the scheme which runs until September. So next time you visit your hairdresser, encourage them to take part.
