YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food Aldi has launched an affordable premium lemon gin for the perfect G& T By You Magazine - July 20, 2020 A gin and tonic with lots of ice is the ultimate summer drink, and the classic summer favourite is about to get even better with the release of a brand new Aldi speciality. The supermarket is launching a gin named Eidyn, which has been created specially by The Old Curiosity Distillery. It is a ‘premium’ gin, and promises to deliver a zingy, lemony taste that sounds as though it’ll be ideal for super hot summer days. The botanicals which were used to make Eidyn were all harvested in the Old Curiosity’s Secret Herb Garden near Edinburgh. The elixir features lemon thyme, lemon balm botanicals, and juniper. Unfortunately, the gin is only available currently in Aldi’s Scottish stores, but we’re praying they will roll out the bottle to the rest of the UK in time for the really hot weather, as this sounds like one of the most refreshing drinks of the year. Speaking about the introduction of the gin, Hamish Martin, Director at The Old Curiosity Distillery, said: ‘We’re thrilled to be working with Aldi to create a new and truly unique, premium gin. We are a family business and we put our passion and love into everything that we do, and we believe that comes through in the quality of the products that we create.’ ‘What makes Eidyn so special is the unique blend of fresh lemon thyme and dried lemon balm, juniper, angelica, winter savory and coriander, all of which are grown right here in our Secret Herb Garden using no chemicals whatsoever to ensure the true essence of these fantastic botanicals are infused into every bottle,’ he continued. Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director, Aldi Scotland added: ‘We are extremely proud to launch Eidyn Gin, which we know can happily hold its own amongst the leading gins across the country, while carrying an exceptionally competitive price. It’s been a real privilege working alongside The Old Curiosity Gin on this project, and witness the skill, care and passion that has gone into crafting this delicious gin.’ As the gin is a ‘premium’ product, it does come with a slightly more ‘premium’ price tag, but at £19.99, it’s still very much affordable!
