She’s always wearing something fabulous, and groomed to perfection, of course – but another thing that’s constant, unless it would be inappropriate for the occasion, is that she always has a smile on her face. Getty Images Whether she’s attending an event with her husband Prince William, standing on the balcony at Trooping the Colour with her children and extended family, or going solo at a public engagement or charity function, Kate’s wide, genuine grin always lights up a room. And now a new heartwarming story has coming to light that gives her expression even more meaning than most. According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, who wrote the book Kate: The Future Queen, the duchess has been living by the same positive mantra since her school days: always keep smiling. Getty Images As Marie Claire reports, a telling extract from the book reveals that the philosophy was handed down by one of Kate’s favourite teachers, Dr. Robert Acheson, a former headmaster of St Andrews’ Prep School. Nicholl explained: ‘When Dr. and Mrs. Acheson left the school, Kate presented them with a teddy bear that everyone in the family had signed. She had carefully inscribed it with the words that Dr. Acheson had instilled in her: “I’ll always keep smiling.”‘ ‘She had the most fabulous smile, and I always told her, whatever happens in life, keep smiling,’ Dr. Acheson added. Getty Images From the images captured of her throughout her royal years, it appears that it’s advice that Kate has kept close to her heart ever since, and is likely to pass down to her own three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, too. In fact, we could probably all take a leaf out of Kate’s book – after all, as the old saying goes, nothing you wear is as important as your smile.
