YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Food Cadbury is bringing back this iconic retro chocolate bar from the 70s By You Magazine - January 3, 2020 If you had the power, which retro Cadbury chocolate bar would you bring back from the archives? Perhaps you crave the joy of the first bite of an Aztec bar, or miss the nut, raisin and fudge combo of the Fuse? Maybe you miss the swirl of a simple Spira, or wish you could snap off a square of a Marble one last time? Or, if like thousands of others across the country, the call of a certain special edition Bourneville bar is still strongest for you, we’ve got some excellent news. Getty Images The brand has confirmed that it will be relaunching Cadbury Bourneville Old Jamaica back into stores for 2020, reintroducing the cult favourite dark chocolate rum and raisin bar to the masses, as well as allowing the generation that missed it the first time around to sample its delights. After originally hitting stores in 1970, the rich, fruity chocolate has recurred several times as a limited edition, as part of the Cadbury Dairy Milk ‘Classics’ range in 1987 and again as part of the ‘World of Chocolate’ range in the mid-1990s. It was most recently on shelves a decade ago when it was brought back as part of the Bourneville range for 12 months. However, demand for the permanent return of Bourneville Old Jamaica soared after fans began petitioning for it on Facebook, leading Cadbury to take the decision to reproduce it once again. Sales of Bournville, both in bar form and the buttons which were created last year, have risen 42 per cent in the last year, so it’s no surprise that the brand has looked to its past successes to promote this even further. Bethany Wenn, Bournville Brand Manager at Mondelēz International, said of the return: ‘We’re really excited to bring back the return of Bournville Old Jamaica bar. The relaunch highlights the increasing consumer demand to bring back retro flavours.’ Cadbury Bournville Old Jamaica will be available in stores nationwide in 180g and 100g tablets from January 2020.
