YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Life Experts have revealed the best day of the year to start using a dating app By You Magazine - January 2, 2020 It’s officially the beginning of a new year, meaning it’s time to set new goals, make plans, and look after you. One thing you may potentially be hoping to achieve this year is to find love, in which case, dating apps are a great place to start. And the good news is that this Sunday (5th January) has been named the ideal day to get onto an app and to secure a date. According to dating app Zoosk, the 5th is such a popular day for singles to start swiping right, it’s even been dubbed ‘Dating Sunday’. Most specifically, it is the evening that sees the most activity, notably 9.30pm, when it’s at an all-time high. So why exactly is the 5th such a popular time for dating apps in the new year? Well, unsurprisingly, it sounds as though it has something to do with our ‘new year, new me’ mentalities. ‘Dating Sunday falls during a time period when singles are extra-motivated to look for online connections,’ explains Zoosk’s Chief Marketing Officer Luciana Telles. ‘It’s the first weekend after New Year’s Eve, which means that people have not only set themselves New Year’s resolutions, they’ve had a few days to think about how to put them into practice.’ Additionally, those swiping may be hoping to line up a date for Valentine’s Day, which is actually right around the corner now. ‘[The 5th January is] about six weeks out from Valentine’s Day, meaning that singles who spark something on Jan 5 have plenty of time left to lock down a date for Feb 14,’ says Telles. While this Sunday is an ideal time to give dating apps a go, it sounds as though this entire month is a good time to put yourself out there: ‘Singles should also remember that, while Dating Sunday is traditionally Zoosk’s busiest day, member activity tends to stay higher than average right through Valentine’s Day.’ Happy dating!
